The harsh British winter is far from kind to buildings, and after a few months of sub-zero temperatures, it is time to closely inspect the property for signs of damage. We have more than our fair share of storms here in the UK, and with that in mind, here are some home inspections to carry out before summer arrives.
- Roof Inspection – Look for broken or missing shingles, check the flashing and clean out the guttering. If you are not comfortable doing this, there are experienced building services in Bristol who can give you a detailed report on the roof’s condition.
- Wall Damage – Check for damp patches, which are often the result of blocked guttering, and should you see signs of damp, call out your local builder who can investigate the cause.
- Power Wash the Driveway and Paths – If you hire a power wash machine from your local plant hire company, book it for two days, as there are many areas that can be cleaned with this handy tool. Terraces, paths, driveways and even the walls can be cleaned with a power wash machine.
- Check the Plumbing – This would involve inspecting all visible water piping, looking for signs of corrosion, and, of course, leaks.
If you don’t have the time to carry out these tasks, your local builder would be happy to pop round one day and get your home ready for the spring and summer. Once the exterior has been brought up to standard, you can turn your attention to the garden.
